Fall Coffee Drinks in Nashville: 3 Local Coffee Shops We Tried
October is here, and we've been checking out some of the seasonal coffee drinks at local shops around Nashville. We wanted to try something beyond the usual pumpkin spice latte, so we picked three coffee shops with some interesting fall menus and ordered two drinks at each stop.
From pumpkin pie and carrot cake to maple bourbon and banana bread, Nashville's local coffee shops have gotten pretty creative with their seasonal offerings this year!
We filmed the whole experience, including our reactions to all six drinks, so you can see what we thought before checking them out yourself.
Our first stop was Matryoshka Coffee, a colorful little shopsouth of Downtown with a fun interior and a menu full of creative specialty drinks.
We tried two of their fall offerings:
My Friend Carrot (Carrot Cake Latte): This one caught our attention because carrot cake isn't a flavor you usually see on a coffee menu. It's made with real carrot, a house-made carrot cake syrup, cream cheese cold foam, and praline pecans. There's a lot going on with this drink, especially if you're a fan of carrot cake.
Creature of the Night: Matryoshka's take on a pumpkin spice latte is made with real pumpkin, warm fall spices, vanilla bean, and sweetened condensed milk. It's closer to a pumpkin pie-inspired dessert in coffee form than a basic flavored latte.
Next, we headed to Momento Specialty Coffee in East Nashville. This shop has a different atmosphere from Matryoshka, with a larger café space and a menu with some specialty drinks alongside coffee shop classics.
For our fall visit, we went with two maple-inspired drinks:
Maple Cloud Cold Brew: A cold brew with white chocolate and maple-spiced cold foam, finished with fall spices. This is an interesting option for anyone who likes seasonal flavors but still prefers cold brew over a hot latte.
Spiced Caramel Maple Latte: This one combines caramel sauce, house-made spiced maple syrup, espresso, and milk. It's a warmer, more traditional fall coffee option, with caramel and maple providing most of the flavor.
Our final stop was Sol & Luna Coffee in East Nashville, a newer local coffee business with another interesting selection of seasonal flavors.
We ordered two drinks that sounded especially good for fall:
Practical Magic: A latte made with maple bourbon syrup and a salted whipped topping. The combination of maple, bourbon-inspired flavor, and salt gives this drink a different direction from the usual pumpkin and cinnamon-heavy fall menus.
Pumpkin Banana Bread: This drink brings together pumpkin and banana flavors, inspired by a classic baked treat. It's one of the more unusual combinations we came across during our coffee tour.
Exploring Nashville's Local Coffee Shops
One thing we enjoy about living in Nashville is how many different local businesses there are to explore. Even within the same city, coffee shops can have completely different personalities, menus, and approaches to what they serve.
For this video, we specifically wanted to support local businesses and find some more creative fall flavors! We ended up with six very different coffees across three shops, and it was a fun way to spend some time exploring Nashville.
Seasonal menus don't stick around forever, so check with each shop to see what's still available before making a trip.
